Benefits
Willow bark has long been used for pain, fevers, and inflammation. It's active compound, salicin, is the original source of the synthetic derivative aspirin. The action of white willow is much slower than that of the synthetic drug, but is less likely to cause stomach problems. Willow takes about 8 hours to kick in. It generally works best at easing pain when combined with other analgesic herbs.
Warnings
Not recommended with ulcers, a weak digestive system, or during pregnancy.

A Note On Dosage
There is no one size fits all dose. Dosage varies from individual to individual. The suggested use is just a jumping off point. Each person may need more or less depending on age, weight, sensitivity, etc. In general, for acute conditions you will dose more frequently in larger doses for a short period of time and for chronic conditions you will dose less frequently in smaller doses for an extended period of time. This is something each person has to figure out for themselves but I am happy to answer any questions you may have too!
