Benefits:
Hops is used for indigestion due to nervousness or poor dietary habits. It is helpful for colic in babies, nervous exhaustion, anxiety, to promote sleep and for neuralgias. Combined with other carminatives it can help a nervous, acidic stomach.
Hops is useful for dysmenorrhea, especially when taken prior to the onset of pain. It is also used during menopause. Hop extracts contain the weekly estrogenic compound isoxanthohumol, progestrogenic xanthohumol, and the more potent estrogen 8-prenylnaringenin. individual variation of estrogenecity a pop constituents exists in Vivo due to gut microbe activity and liver enzyme activity. Because it is an estrogenic it can be used to icrese sex drive in women and reduce it in men.
In vitro experiments on rat uteri with an extract, induced a strong anti-spasmodic effect. The extracts shows sedative and anti inflammatory effects in animal experience. The sedative hypnotic effects of hop is partially due to
2-methyl-3-buten-2-ol.
Warnings:
Hops is contraindicated in clinical depression, estrogen dominance, or with allergies to hops. Use with caution during pregnancy due to its estrogenic effects.

A Note On Dosage
There is no one size fits all dose. Dosage varies from individual to individual. The suggested use is just a jumping off point. Each person may need more or less depending on age, weight, sensitivity, etc. In general, for acute conditions you will dose more frequently in larger doses for a short period of time and for chronic conditions you will dose less frequently in smaller doses for an extended period of time. This is something each person has to figure out for themselves but I am happy to answer any questions you may have too!
