Benefits
Blue vervain relaxes the nerves and combats anxiety. It is useful for people who tend to hold in their frustrations and end up with afflictions from stifling their emotions. These individuals tend to hold in their frustrations until they build and burst into an emotional outpouring. It is very helpful for nervous exhaustion from long-term stress or fanatical, hard-driving personalities and for people who suffer from neck and shoulder pain who feel like they're tied up in knots. It's also helpful for women who get angry and tense just before their period, and for anger in general. It can also alleviate some types of headaches, including migraines associated with PMS.
Detail-oriented people who suffer from surface and peripheral nervous system problems and have neuralgias and skin problems may also benefit from blue vervain. It's helpful for many spasmodic nervous disorders, including tics, palsy, and tourette's syndrome. It can also be helpful for mild colds, flu, and respiratory congestion.
WarningsDo not use during pregnancy as it is a uterine stimulant.
Should be avoided if there is a history of heart disease.
Do not use tinctures for liver disorders. In very high doses it can cause vomiting.

A Note On Dosage
There is no one size fits all dose. Dosage varies from individual to individual. The suggested use is just a jumping off point. Each person may need more or less depending on age, weight, sensitivity, etc. In general, for acute conditions you will dose more frequently in larger doses for a short period of time and for chronic conditions you will dose less frequently in smaller doses for an extended period of time. This is something each person has to figure out for themselves but I am happy to answer any questions you may have too!
